If you find yourself; feeling like you don’t want to look at car, or you don't want or can't get in car or if you are not driving, or you don't feel safe as a passenger or possibly need rehabilitation to drive again after a life altering experience and/or need to be refreshed due to age or illness. At Hustler Driving Therapy, we take your rehabilitation very seriously. Every step of the way toward your recovery is done at your pace with a trained Driving Therapist at your side.
Our Driving Therapists will work with many different situations, private, referral or through insurance or WSIB. Assessments can be arranged through referrals, or by filling out the form on our Contact Us page.
Many Psychologists, Physicians, Occupational Therapists, and Case Managers across the province rely on our expertise and professionalism for their patients’/clients’ transportation challenges. ONE OF OUR MAIN GOALS is to ensure that drivers are able to use our motorways as competent and independent drivers and if required, using modifications that are custom to their unique needs.
Our mission at Hustler Driving Therapy is to provide a comprehensive assessment and rehabilitation program for road users. Driving is a skill of daily living and a means of independence that most people value. However, injuries, disease, illness or certain effects of aging may make it unsuitable for you to drive.
As Professional Driving Therapists, our role is to help people overcome their pain and trauma and recover their confidence and transportation mobility.
Anyone who has experienced the trauma of a vehicle crash, either as a driver, passenger or pedestrian.
SIGNS OF PTSD AND DRIVING PHOBIAS
PTSD -People who are experiencing post traumatic stress disorder symptoms such as:
- Panic attacks / Flashbacks / Nightmares of Crash
- Intrusive memories of Crash
-Sleep Disorders
DRIVING PHOBIAS-People who have been diagnosed or suffering from:
-DRIVING ANXIETY – Usually refers to the act of driving.
-DRIVING PHOBIA – Thinking about being a driver or passenger.
-ACCIDENT (CRASH) PHOBIA – The fear of having a crash.
-TRAVEL ANXIETY – Avoidance of using the road system.
-AVOIDANCE BEHAVIOURS
- Avoid driving all together
- Avoid crash area or triggers
- Will not talk about the crash
- PSYCHIC NUMBING – Flat affect, Feeling very down, Mimics depression
- HYPERAROUSAL
- Hyper vigilant
- Difficulty concentrating
- Exaggerated startle response
-Phantom braking (passenger)
- Shallow breathing or holding one`s breath
- Sleep difficulties
- Hot-Cold flashes, Panic like feelings
